Zimbabwe lies on a subtropical plateau dominated by savanna agroecological zones. Approximately 10–11% of land is arable, supporting maize, tobacco, cotton, soybeans, wheat and sugarcane. Major imports include wheat, rice and edible oils, while exports include tobacco, cotton and sugar. Zimbabwe does not commercially cultivate GM crops but permits regulated importation of GM food, feed and processing products.
