Togo extends from the humid Guinean coast through forest–savanna transition zones to the northern Sudanian savanna. Approximately 45% of the country’s land is agricultural, with about 11% arable. Major crops include maize, cassava, yam, sorghum, millet, rice, cotton, cocoa and coffee. Major agricultural imports include rice, wheat and vegetable oils, while exports include cotton, cocoa, coffee and soybeans. Togo does not commercially cultivate GM crops. Imports of GM food, feed and processing (FFP) products are regulated under the national biosafety framework.
